Women of Worth! 
Women of Worth (WOW) is a substance abuse treatment program designed specifically to address the needs of women. This innovative program helps women reclaim their lives after living with addiction, abuse and other destructive behaviors by empowering them with a positive sense of self. 
With an emphasis on relationships, WOW teaches clients how to:
Jane Witt from the Racine Interfaith Coalition receives the Cultivators Award for Women of Worth from the Racine Heritage Committee. This award is to recognize WoW's distinguished work to improve the lives of African American citizens of Racine, Wisconsin.
  • Develop coping skills for long-term, permanent recovery
  • Identify and develop their personal strengths
  • Improve relationships with family members
  • Build trust and develop healthy relationships
  • Better manage day-to-day life and its challenges
  • Create individualized goals for success

WOW is a comprehensive, goal-directed program that works to treat the physical, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social needs of its clients through:
  • Addiction Education
  • Counseling
  • Life Skills Training
  • Parenting Support
  • Financial Education
  • Art Therapy
  • Yoga and more

WOW is an outpatient program focusing on the unique needs of women, in particular, mothers and expecting mothers, as well as women who have experienced homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. 

The program provides a safe, supportive and understanding environment for women looking to recover from substance abuse and trauma. Impacting every aspect of life, WOW focuses on developing the individual’s well being, as well as the overall wellness of their children. 

WOW for mothers uses an inter-generational approach to therapy by providing comprehensive support services for women and their children focusing on:
  • Proper Medical Care
  • Positive Communication Skills
  • Healthy Parent/Child Interactions
  • Family Therapy
  • Parental Skills-Building

Childcare and transportation is available through HALO for group participants.

  • Female resident of Racine or Kenosha Counties
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder per DSM V
  • Determined to need at least ASAM Level II.I Intensive Outpatient level of care
  • Priority given to mothers, expectant mothers, minorities, past and present residents of HALO and those at-risk for homelessness
  • Must be capable and willing to follow WOW program schedule and work with treatment team

Women of Worth received a 2014 Outstanding Service Award from the
Racine Interfaith Coalition for the innovative pilot program. 

WOW was the pioneering vision of the Racine Interfaith Coalition and was made possible through collaborative efforts with several community agencies including HALO, Inc., Wheaton Franciscan Health Care, WISDOM, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Madison and the Center for Urban Population Health.
