Celebrating HALO Volunteers

We want to invite all of the Volunteers and their families, past and present, and Friends of HALO to attend a special event on our grounds:  VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION CELEBRATION, Saturday, August 28, from 1-3pm.  We want to recognize our volunteers with a token of our appreciation and gratitude.   Of course, no celebration is complete without sweets so there will be cake and a make-your-own ‘cool summer treat’ sundae bar, sponsored by local businesses.  There will be childrens activities and animals from the Racine Zoo.  Staff, Board members and HALO participants are waiting to tell you how you have made a difference.  Come and tour our facility to see all the changes that have been made over the years.  And  everyone will have the opportunity to purchase some of our handmade HALO pillowcases.

Volunteering gives us an opportunity to change lives, including our own.  Volunteers are vital to our sustainability and growth.  Know that HALO is succeeding in tackling the complex homelessness issue

Immediate Need:  Drivers to take HALO participants

for Job Training

HALO has partnered with Meals On Wheels so that participants who live at HALO can get job training & experience while helping the Meals On Wheels program with production & packaging the meals delivered to the home bound. HALO is in REAL NEED of volunteers Monday through Friday at 4:30 A.M to take one or two people to Meals on Wheels located at 16th and Hwy. 31. Drivers can commit to one or more days.

The driver(s) will either pick up at HALO (2000 DeKoven Ave.) or be given an address to meet at one of our off-site housing locations.  All people have been handpicked by Meals on Wheels and HALO to participate in this job training program.  Participants must be at work & ready to start at 8 a.m. sharp! Total time given each day: 1-1.5 hrs.  This program will help HALO to get our adults ready to take their journey to self-sufficiency.   THANKS in ADVANCE!!!

The HALO Board of Directors would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people who called HALO and volunteered to become a part of our FIRST year at Miller Park.

By taking time from your busy schedules to spend a couple of days, or more in some cases, helping HALO, please know that you will MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of those who are working hard too at becoming independant & self sustaining individuals and families.

Chances are that once we experience this opportunity and see just how GOOD we are at it,,,,we will want to continue each year to raise funds in this manner.  So, that means that we will be looking for future volunteers to join us.  If you would like to get on our list RIGHT NOW, please call Brenda Thomas at HALO to sign up. She can be reached at 262-633-3235 ext. 142 or bthomas@haloinc.org Name, email and cell phone (for ease in contacting) needed when you sign up.

THANKS again.........and PLAY BALL!!
