2017 Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays Program

Thank you for your interest in adopting a family at HALO this holiday season!  It is the time of the year when kids’ thoughts turn to Santa Clause and parents’ begin to worry how they will provide holiday memories their children will treasurer.  We understand how hard it can be and, with your help, want to do our best to make things a bit brighter for the men, women and children in our shelter and our housing programs.

** We are working on pairing the wishlists with assigned to donors. If you wish to sign-up to be a donor please email Melissa Becker at

How to Sign up for Adopt – A – Family: Contact Melissa Becker at 262-633-3235 ext 214 or at and provide your email address, telephone number, mailing address and the size of family you are willing to adopt.

Matching Families:  Families in the shelter and in our housing program who wish to participate in the Adopt – A – Family program have until November 18th to turn in wish lists, at this time families will be matched with donors.  Starting November 20th, wish lists will be distributed to donors so that you can start shopping!

Delivery of Gifts: As soon as you are done with your shopping, please wrap all of your gifts and mark them with the name and number you are given for your family.  Please have all gifts returned to HALO no later than Wednesday, December 20st so they can be distributed to the families.

Donors will be assigned to families on a first come first serve basis.  If wish lists come in after the November 18th due date, we will notify you as soon as possible to see if you are still willing to adopt a family.

Additional gifts beyond the wish list are acceptable, but not expected.  There is no minimum dollar amount that must be spent on an individual or a family, although the suggested maximum is $50-$75/person.

THANK YOU to Everyone who helped make Holiday memories for our Families in Need in 2015's Adopt-A-Family!

Because we live in a community that cares about the needs of others, over 100 families had pre
sents to open for the holiday season thanks to the generous spirit of HALO supporters who purchased new gifts from their family's wish-list and delivered them wrapped and labeled in time for our annual holiday party on Christmas Eve.

Special THANKS to the Racine Police Department for your generous contributions.
