Annual Report Letter for 2015

posted Oct 22, 2015, 1:35 PM by Andrew Koetz
Dear Friends of HALO,

As another fiscal year comes to a close, we take the opportunity not just to look back on the past year, but on the past 10 years of working to create paths of
self-sufficiency for those experiencing homelessness in Racine County.

We have seen extraordinary strides being made in many areas of homelessness in Racine. We have expanded services to meet the needs of the individuals and families that enter our shelter, and we have found that with the use of our services they are better able to thrive. In fact, of those individuals living in poverty, we have seen a decline in specifically chronic homelessness from more than 8% to less than 1%.

HALO provides food, emergency shelter, supportive services, and transitional & permanent housing solutions that help more and more people finally get “home.” We are able to work with over 90 service and agency partners throughout Racine to meet the needs of our clients and get them to a stable and successful place.

However, there is more work to be done!
Looking ahead, we see a continued need for addressing two root causes of homelessness: mental health and addictions. We have already begun working with partnering agencies in Racine to better assist those struggling in these areas.

In order to address these root causes we need the continued support of our community like you, who are able to donate and volunteer to keep our programs running. Our deepest thanks goes out to you for this continued support!
