Congratulation to Stephanie Kober!

HALO's Family Program Director received a 2015 Individual Award of Excellence from the Wisconsin Child Care Administrators Association for her "contributions toward promoting quality and excellence in the field of childcare and education."

HALO Childcare Center (HCC) has once again received the highest, 5-Star rating from Wisconsin’s Youngstar program! With this top rating, HCC is ranked in the top 4% of child care centers in Racine and Kenosha and the top 9% statewide. Best of all, HALO Childcare Center is open to the public!

Ten Years.... MANY Stories!

HALO gives thanks to the nearly 300 guests who attended our ten-year anniversary dinner on April 17 at the Marriott Racine. The event, Ten Years…Many Stories, featured special guest speaker, Teri Jendusa-Nicolai, who spoke to the subject of overcoming hardships with hope and hard work. This is a topic that every person experiencing homelessness can relate to. The topic also reaches the core of HALO’s mission which is to support individuals and families on their pathway to self-sufficient living.

Since opening in 2005, HALO has helped over 1,600 adults return to stable housing with enough income and savings to support themselves. At the event, two HALO participants gave moving testimonials by video and one brave man spoke directly to the crowd. Jeff received a standing ovation after mentioning how he recently received a master’s degree, graduated with honors and is now a valued employee of HALO.

Ten Years…Many Stories was a group effort led by dedicated HALO board member Linda Flashinski. The Racine Arts Guild created beautiful floral centerpieces. HALO’s Recipe for Success kitchen incubator manager, Roseanne Mattefs, provided scrumptious cakes for dessert. Long-time HALO volunteer Ron Tait interviewed HALO participants and prepared the video testimonials. A local quartet, CSQ, provided light music to enhance the celebratory atmosphere, and every guest received a commemorative bookmark.
