Welcome to HALO's Family Program!
About the Family Program
The Family Program Manager will provide case management to identify low cost health care assistance for children who do not have up to date examinations or immunizations. Programming will be done with families on personal hygiene. Parents will be taught the value of books, games, and other materials that stimulate children's growth and development. Parents will also be shown how the importance of play is crucial in the development of children.
At intake, each child will receive their first ASQ assessment. Information will be entered into the ASQ software and reports will be developed. If a child fails the assessments, a list of appropriate activities will be given to the parent to work on with the child. The child will be referred for individual attention with Gateway's E.C.E. students twice a week. The child will be referred to RCOC, Family Start Kid Friendly, RUSD, or their doctor.
A follow up assessment will be done on a monthly basis for children who have failed one or more areas of the assessment. For children who successfully complete the screenings, follow up assessments will be done every two months as scheduled.
The Bright Space room provides children in shelter, a safe, stable learning environment. Age developmentally appropriate activities and materials will be offered every day. The Bright Space room will be open daily for children who are unable to use the tutoring room. Ready for School forms will be used on every child. Educational in-house field trips will be brought into the shelter. Large group games, consistent staff, and loving fun will ensure the healthy development of children at HALO.
The shelter will provide a list of resources for parenting assistance. Parenting classes will take place at HALO and off site as part of mandatory programming. The new MOMS support Group offers a solid support system for single mothers. Family activities will be encouraged and opportunities for such events will be a regular part of programming.
